Laura Meakin's classic looks belie her wicked sense of humour, but she's been able to put both to good use in the vast array of characters she has portrayed on stage and screen. Laura began her career as a young twirly performing with many world renowned dance companies in the UK and abroad. Her talent was spotted early on as she received a scholarship to the prestigious Arts Educational School in London. It was here she was spotted by director Daniel Peacock who cast her as heart throb teacher Miss Blackburn in his award winning Channel 5 hit show Billie: Girl from the Future. Laura then went on to play the role of Lydia in the television series No Angels for ITV. Laura has appeared in many productions on stage in London's West End, National and International tours in such diverse shows from A Chorus Line, Shakespeare's As You Like It to Glyndebourne's Die Fledermaus to name but a few. As a backing singer and dancer, Laura has worked with many successful artists from Kylie to Britney and has appeared in numerous music videos and commercials. As a voiceover artist she has worked on a number of commercials and on radio plays for the BBC. Laura has appeared on the silver screen with (SWOON!) Johnny Depp in Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd for DreamWorks; Nik Powell's Cowboys and Indians for Pukkanasha Films; Suppressors for Genesis Films; Junction for Broedmachine and Raindance Festival winning film The Bridge for Guiding Light Productions. |
